Malcolm Young’s son joined an AC/DC tribute band to sing some of the classic hits co-written by his father.

Glasgow-born Malcolm, who founded the hard rock legends with his brother Angus in 1973, played with the band until 2014, when it was announced that he’d be retiring permanently due to the onset of dementia. He died on November 19, 2017 at the age of 64.

Ross Young joined the AC/DC tribute band THUNDERSTRUCK on stage at the Epping Hotel in Epping, New South Wales, Australia last month to perform a couple of classic songs.You can see fan-filmed footage of the performance below.

Tributes poured in for Malcolm after his death with Ozzy Osbourne, Disturbed, Nikki Sixx and Brody Homme among the fans who mourned his loss.

A statement released by his family read:

“It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of Malcolm Young, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Malcolm had been suffering from Dementia for several years and passed away peacefully on Saturday with his family by his bedside.

”Renowned for his musical prowess, Malcolm was a songwriter, guitarist, performer, producer and visionary who inspired many. From the outset he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, took to the world stage giving their all at every show. Nothing less would do for their fans.“

”While thanking all for their overwhelming support and heartfelt condolences, the family ask that you respect their privacy during this time of heartbreak and grief.”
