Lorde is a (bleep) and should marry Roger Waters, says Howard Stern

Lorde’s decision to cancel a concert in Israel continues to inspire debate.

Many artists, including Roger Waters, Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel, have signed a letter in support of the pop star.

While others are unhappy with her decision.

One of her more notable critics is shock jock Howard Stern, who blasted Lorde in a profanity-heavy segment on his radio show. (You can listen to the segment below but, again, be aware that there is profanity in it.)

Commenting about how he is “so (expletive) sick” of the “anti-semitism up on the rise” he delved into the topic, wondering why Lorde would single out Israel.

“By the way, Lorde is going to play Russia,” Stern says. “She has no problem with Russia. The only place in the world that she can’t play is Israel. So, what do you think is going on? What is the one thing about Israel that is different than all other places? There is Jews there.”

He also dubbed her a “(expletive)-head” and wondered how could put on a full concert, since, in Stern’s opinion, she only has one song to play. He then got the title of that song wrong.

“One (expletive) song this girl is living off of,” Stern comments. “I don’t know how she is doing a concert. Her song is ‘Royal.’”

(Actually, the song is “Royals” – plural.)

“She must do ‘Royal’ for two hours,” he continued.

He then mocked the significance of Lorde having a political view on Israel.

“It’s like the Kardashians,” Stern says. “Maybe we should consult them on North Korea.”

He later added:

“I want to hear Katy Perry’s view of Syria, honestly, before I do anything.”

Stern, of course, also found time to blast Roger Waters, the classic rock legend who has come out in support of Lorde.

“Lorde and Roger Waters should get married and start a (expletive) the Jews world tour. What are they waiting for?” he asked.

That’s Stern’s view. Here is a look at some of the statements from artists in support of Lorde. Peter Gabriel compares what’s going on in Israel to “Apartheid South Africa,” while Brian Eno assures Lorde that “you’re not alone: you have a movement with you.”

Peter Gabriel: “Comparing the evidence in this case, of rights enjoyed by an Israeli citizen and rights enjoyed by a Palestinian in Occupied Territory reminds me so much of Apartheid South Africa.

“Artists need to be encouraged for campaigning for human rights, not attacked. We should support all those who suffer terrible human rights abuses – and support the millions of Jewish people and compassionate Israelis who believe a peaceful future in the Middle East is impossible without a resolution that recognises, respects and protects the rights of all its people.”

Brian Eno: “I’m personally so grateful to you for having the courage to make this decision. I think you’ve made a big difference and you’ll be remembered for it.” … “I write as one of the millions of people who appreciate what you did. Our comments won’t get echoed around as much as the hatred will, but I want you to know you’re not alone: you have a movement with you. And it’s getting stronger.”
