‘When Lightning Strikes’ recently earned a spot on Hollywood’s Black List
The first page of a script for a potential JK Rowling biopic film has been released.
The unattached script has been penned by screenwriter and journalist Anna Klassen, who has previously written for Bustle, Buzzfeed, Newsweek, The Daily Beast and other publications.
It’s called When Lightning Strikes and recently earned a place on Hollywood’s Black List, the prestigious annual round-up of the year’s best unproduced screenplays.
The synopsis says it focuses on “the true story of 25-year-old Joanne Rowling as she weathers first loves, unexpected pregnancies, lost jobs, and depression on her journey to create Harry Potter.”
The first page of the script sees a 25-year-old Rowling lost in thought while travelled through the English countryside on a train. Read below.

Rowling, 52, was presented with the prestigious award by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, at Buckingham Palace.
In a statement, Rowling said that she felt “deeply honoured and proud”, adding: “To be included in the distinguished and diversely talented company of the other Companions of Honour, especially as a female writer, is a particular privilege.”
Harry Potter author JK Rowling was previously awarded an OBE in 2001.
